Home-Start Brentwood offers support to families with one or more children under 5. Support can be through a volunteer who visits the family in their own home, or through our Family Group. You do not have to pay for the help Home-Start gives.
At Home-Start Brentwood we work towards increasing the confidence and independence of families by:
- offering support, friendship and practical assistance.
- respecting and protecting the dignity and identity of each individual family member.
- reassuring parents that difficulties in bringing up children are not unusual and emphasising the pleasures of family life.
Support at Home
Home-Start volunteers offer friendly, non-judgemental support to families with young children. They will visit you at home regularly and together you can arrange when those visits happen and how to spend the time together. You can end our support at any time.
Our family group is held on Mondays at Shenfield Parish Hall from 10 am to 12 noon. It is a place to come and meet other parents and have the benefit of support from the Home-Start organisers, play leaders and volunteers. Enjoy one another’s company whilst your children play in a safe and stimulating environment.
All of our volunteers have parenting experience. They must attend our own specially designed training course and undergo an enhanced criminal records check. They will respect your privacy and will never forget that you have invited them into your home.
